“The Green Initiative”- Let’s make our planet plastic-free
Vasant Kunj is a lush-green family-friendly area in New Delhi where we keep on conducting several activities regarding the environment, health, and other issues. Active residents and officials always take part to make these events successful. As we are July month of the year 2021 and world is celebrating plastic-free July to make our planet healthier and revive itself to its original conditions as humans have harmed the earth to a great extent. Several plantations drives, campaigns, and cleanliness drives are held during this week.
“The Green Initiative” at Vasant Kunj
As responsible citizens of our country and earth, it is our duty to work for the well-being of our country and earth without waiting for the government or any other organization to pass laws for the same. We are responsible for what we do in our daily life and the same is with nature and the environment what we give it always reverts in one or other forms. So this July let us people of Vasant Kunj come together and plant trees for us and our future generations.
South Delhi MCD (Municipal Corporation Delhi) NAJAFGARH ZONE along with RWA federation Vasant Kunj, Citizen Forum Vasant Kunj, and all RWAs are going to conduct an event called “The Green Initiative” at Sector-C, block-6 for a good and noble cause on 10th July 2021 at Vasant Vatika, opposite Delhi Public School, from 7:30 AM onwards.
All the residents and RWAs are invited to join hands for this event. We will be planting trees along with several other activities under the guidance of our Chief Guest Mr. Ramesh Bidhuri, Hon’ble MP South Delhi. Mr. Inderjeet Sehrawat, Leader SDMC Neta Sadan will grace the occasion as a Guest of honor and promote our initiative. It will be our privilege to honor Dr. Sonal Swarup, DC South Zone SDMC in our event.
Horticulture Division of DDA (Delhi Development Authority) will be organizing a plantation drive with us. During this ongoing COVID-19 crisis one of the important accessories is the mask which is helping us to save our lives. Rotary Club, Delhi South-East for the provision of safety in this pandemic will be helping us in our event by distributing the masks to residents and we appreciate such a good effort of them.
Other interesting Activities and Events to be organized:
Have you ever heard that E-Waste and plastic at home can give you something interesting in return rather than pollution? No. Come join us at the event and SDMC will provide your plants and compost in exchange for your E-waste and Plastic. You will find it interesting.
We use the polybags for ration and vegetables and throw them which have nothing to do rather than polluting our environment. Let us start using cloth bags for shopping for more sustainable living. We will provide free cloth bags to all the residents attending the event.
We also take care of the health of our residents as they are jewels to us and their health is our wealth, so a health checkup camp for Diabetes and Naturopathy is also organized for the residents during the occasion.
All of us know that we can transform our kitchen waste to compost that can be used as organic fertilizer for plants at home. If you have any queries regarding compost making at home you also have the opportunity to know all about compost making with our senior consultant Mr. Pradeep Chadha and turn your wet waste into black gold.

What are the Benefits of this Initiative?
The initiative is going to be very helpful to us in one or the other ways. We get to know about the correct plantation methods, new plants for our home, and upon that we will unite together for a green cause. The more we plant trees more we are going to get benefits such as pure air to breathe, Fruit shade, and greenery soothing our eyes.
We will be able to reduce the pollution as plants also work as pollution and are CO2 absorbers in return it will be reducing global warming which has a huge impact on humans and other living beings because of which glaciers are melting, several new diseases are occurring and many plant and animal species are vanishing from the earth which is affecting the biogeological cycle on earth.
