Plastic is that devil which cannot be destroyed properly by any of the known methods in this world. The only solution left is to reduce the use and hence manufacturing of the plastic. Single-use plastic such as bottles, crockery, carry bags, etc., is not only dangerous to the environment but they are also taking the lives of humans and other living beings. It affects everything including human life, agriculture, animals, plants, and beautiful nature as well.

So, to reduce plastic waste world is celebrating Plastic Free July to promote waste management and take the challenge to reduce the single-use plastic in our daily life. Every corner of the world is accepting the challenge and trying their best to get rid of plastic waste.

♦ About the Event – Say No To Single-Use Plastic By RWA D-6 & Pragyata NGO

‘Say no to single-use plastic’  by RWA D-6 & Pragyata NGO. Vasant Kunj is once again coming up with an exciting event expecting the challenge of Plastic-free July and promoting and encourage the residents to minimize the waste as much as possible. To raise your hand toward the initiative for our planet.

It is necessary to make the base of the building strong, so this time our main focus is towards children as we want to promote and encourage them towards the harmful effects of plastic waste and also how they can reduce it to help mother earth. Rather all the residents of Vasant Kunj are invited to this event.

The main focus of the event is towards the 3Rs (Recycle, Reuse and Reduce) that are necessary to be followed in daily life. SDMC, SSIL, and WOW will help us, and also they will guide us on how can we segregate the waste at our home such as dry, wet, or kitchen waste. They will provide knowledge on how can we convert plastic waste to energy and reusable things.

We are delighted to tell you that Sh. Ramesh Bidhuri, MP South Zone, Ms. Sonal Swaroop, DC, SDMC, South zone, Sh. Inderjeet Sehrawat, Neta Sadan/ Chairman DEMS, Sh. Jagmohan Mehlawat, Pradesh Adhyaksh, Mehrauli will be providing us the guidance for the event and it is our privilege to learn about waste management from these great personalities.

♦ Interesting activities planned for the event:

We have planned certain activities to make the event more interesting in which all the participants can participate and earn rewards and exciting prizes. It will help us to follow the 3Rs principle in our daily lives and promote others also in doing same.

• Recycling: Children and ladies of Vasant Kunj residents are requested to collect single-use plastics at home and bring them along with them on 17th July 2021.
• Reusing:    We request participants to make any handicraft out of plastic waste in the coming week and bring it to the event.
• Reducing:  Most welcome to share your ideas on how we can reduce single-use plastic to promote awareness among other people.
• We are organizing a drawing competition for children on the topic “Waste segregation and Say not to Single-Use Plastic”.
• We are promoting the use of cloth bags rather than polybags. So RWA will be providing cloth bags to all the participants and attendees.

1. All the participants will be provided a “Participation Certificate”
2. Winners will be awarded exciting prizes.
