About Vasant Kunj

Vasant kunj is a Sanskrit word that means “Spring” and Kunj is also a Sanskrit word that means “Plants and Greenery.”

As the name indicates, it is an upscale suburb within Delhi’s south-west district with lush green surroundings. The zone is well-known for its lavish farmhouses and soothing atmosphere. Mahipalpur, Mehrauli, Qutub Institutional Area, Vasant Vihar, Shankar Vihar’s army camp and Aerocity are all notable areas nearby Vasant Kunj. Aerocity is a recently built hub near the Delhi Airport. The area is very upscale and is surrounded by high-end hotels, office buildings, and eating joints.The area is close to Indira Gandhi International Airport and Gurgaon’s commercial hub.

Historically, Vasant Kunj once administered under the reign of Prithviraj Chauhan and later Mamluk/Slave dynasty of Qutubuddin Aibak. Sultan Ghari’s tomb, which is situated in that location, is considered Delhi’s first Islamic mausoleum. The historical monument Qutub Minar, as well as the Qutub Complex, is both close by. After the fall of Delhi Sultanate; Vasant Kunj became a farmland that was later acquired by the government. For its surrounded farmlands the area is also famous for its palatial farmhouses. The region is dominated by the Delhi Ridge and dense forest is known as Sanjay Van.

Vasant Kunj’s range is like two sides of the same coin. On one hand, the area is extremely posh and is considered one of Delhi’s wealthiest neighbourhoods. On the other hand, the less prosperous parts of Rangpuri Pahari can be identified. Considering the wealthiest part, then all basic amenities are located nearby.

Vasant Kunj is divided into five sectors: Sector A, Sector B, Sector C, Sector D, and last but not least, Sector E. There are approximately eight to nine pockets within each sector. Sector B has the most pockets, with a total of 11 in total.
